Toaster Tongs: The Backstory

I started writing these comics one day when I was feeling a little low about myself.

They’re terrible. Don’t worry, I know they’re terrible.

But they are works in progress that are steadily changing my life. Every day I learn new things by doing them and especially by embarrassing myself in front of the internet. I like to think I’m slowly learning new skills.

Anyway, on that day when I was feeling a bit blue, I began drawing my first comic. About toaster tongs.

You can read more about that “toaster tong moment” here.

Here’s that very first comic:

Sometimes life surprises us with free gifts and rewards.
What kind of free gifts do you get for answering a survey?

Sometimes I feel like I haven’t achieved anything in my life.
Adults without children sometimes have to listen to annoying advice from friends with kids.
Some people don’t want to own homes.
Sometimes the American dream means chasing jobs you don’t actually want.
Couples who choose not to have children are sometimes happier.

Life is always full of surprises, and the key is to never get to complacent or to think you’ve figured it all out. It’s always new!

As the Rolling Stones say, you don’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need.
