What to Do with a Lonely Giraffe

We all agree that giraffes are pretty nifty things. 

But few among us have given any thought to a giraffe's sense of loneliness. How hard it must be to live in the treetops while everyone else lives down on the earth, amidst the soil and grass! 

Fortunately Megumi Iwasa has given thought to the solitude of giraffes. Or at least, she has recognized the pangs of one giraffe's very sad heart. 

In her delightful chapter book Yours Sincerely, Giraffe, she shares the story of a giraffe who decides to enlist the help of a pelican to find a pen pal.  

When the giraffe and penguin exchange letters, they begin imagining each others' lives, and a wonderful story unfolds.
